Contest: German Bastard Sword Giveaway!
Win a New A&A German Bastard Sword!

March 10th is the one-year anniversary for myArmoury.com. To celebrate this occasion, we've come up with a big bastard of a contest! Arms & Armor has graciously donated a German Bastard Sword to be given away to one lucky myArmoury.com member! This is one of their premier catalog items, and in my own opinion, one of the best reproduction swords available in its price range.

This 16th century sword is almost large enough to be classified as a two-hander. The beautifully designed pommel and guard balance the long blade very well. The roped guard has a ring on each side for additional hand protection. This was needed as the intricate binding moves of the German school of fence for these types of swords could endanger the hands. The stitched black leather grip is molded to the hardwood core with beeswax and heat as was done in the middle ages. The original, circa 1500 German, has an unknown provenance and is pictured in Arms and Armour, Blackmore, p.32. This sword retails for $595 US!

Overall length: 48.625"; Blade length: 37.5"; Blade width (at base): 2"; Point of Balance: 3.75"; Center of Percussion: 22.5"; Weight: 4.5 pounds

Like Old St.Nick, he works at night. We wake to news and content. Ner a dull moment at this site. What will a new week portend?
I'll admit I clicked the link and added my own interest. Seeing as I own one now, I'll unsubscribe; it seems best.

Cheers and good luck all, it is an awesome sword. I bow out now, reducing odds, for others on the board.

Cheers

D'oh! My does my name have to be Aaron???? Since I'm at the very top of the list, no one is going to expect the very first person is going to take away the sword. Well, at least I'm not Zenny Z. Zycowski.
That is a Very Beautiful Piece of Working Art ^_^
Thankyou
Thanks for the opportunity and Arms & Armor for their generosity!!!
I'm in, I hope I win.
Wow indeed! Thanks for the contest and good luck to all!
Hello and good luck to all. (Why am I wishing you all good luck when I hope I win?) :D
Yes, certainly a beautiful blade. That would look great as part of any collection or just on the wall alone.... good luck! (not to you, silly, I'm talking to myself!)
How do you give a way a sword?? A book yes, a poster yes, a sword??? Truly amazing!
That's a nice looking sword... I wonder how it'd hold up with frequent use?
