Does anyone have any opinons on Jake Powning's swords. I was looking at his web site over the weekend and they look like real works of art. I am wondering though, how the handling characterisitics are, how do they cut and hold up to use. Any comments anyone?

This is one that I used to own.

To date that is the one and only Powning piece I have handled, and I did no cutting with it so I couldn't tell you for sure how durable it is. I think you will find that is the case with most Powning pieces, they are far too pretty to cut with, but that doesn't mean that they can't be cut with. Jake has an amazing talent and is a heck of a nice guy in the bargain. Getting yoru hands on his work is the trick. Yeah, I messed up when I sold that sword... :(

I've also read on other forums his personnal opinion on the importance of the performance aspect of his swords,
to the point of scrapping a sword with two-three months work invested in the blade as it didnt match his standards,

the sword you sold was a beauty,your right on the knack thing,pretty hard to get a hold of Jakes work,normally gone by the time you contact him,or the stuff that sells a little slower is out of my range,
