Hi

I need some info about basic dimension of average ring in 15cent mail. The most important is thickness of the ring. Some say they could be less than 1mm thick...others that average was 1.5mm.I tried to find some reliable studies...but I could't find anything credible. What is your opinion?

Quite frequently the rings were of flattened oval - or rectangular or D-shaped, if punched - section.

The chainmail I documented last Tuesday had 9 mm rings (outer diameter), and 1mm x 1.5 mm section, and is clearly 15th century. I might provide pics if you ask nicely Wink (and if I can find time to upload them)
