Hi there

I have just ordered a kingmaker and was interested in opinions on Albions Antiquing of the guard and pommel.

Is the process they use the same a bluing?

Is the steel used of a type that will naturally patina if left un oiled or waxed?

Any thoughts will be appreciated.

THanks

I think their process is more like the Sean Flynt method as far as antiquing goes. I ordered my Kingmaker blued which will be a lot darker than the anitquing. If you look at the photos of the Albion Knight on their website they show an antiqued one. I've been experimenting with the Sean Flynt and Peter Johnnson techniques of aging. My best result is to use the vineger/mist to rust it, remove the rust with Naval Jelly and clean it, then birchwood casey cold blue it. Then you just use steel wool to rub the bluing off the high spots. I've been doing it with helmets but I"m sure it would work with a sword just as well (I'm just too scared to do it to one of my Albion blades).

Thanks Nathan

Just had a look at the Knight - am assuming the one with the scabbard is the Antique finish, that is exactly what I am after!

thanks mate
