sword scabbard
i want to make a sword scabbard, someone could tell me in wich way the metal locket and tips was fastened to the scabbard itself? someone of you has done something of similar?
This is one of the things that is probably open to quite a bit of debate. I have just used a friction fit on all of mine, but glue would be a feasible option. I have also toyed around with the idea of other fastening methods, such as little hook like projections. I don't think the latter idea is very historical, and I think it will be less than effective, too (will likely tear the leather).

I believe some use small tacks/rivets to secure the locket and cape to the wood core.

There used to be a Chistian Fletcher tutorial on making a Gladius scabbard where he used this method, but I can't seem to locate it.
The ones I've seen (historical examples I mean) use either : friction fit or tiny rivets/staples, irrelative to the period.
