This is the shield of renaissance venetian infantryman Zuan da Breganse, i.e. of Giovanni Sartori da Breganze (VI), who re-enacts a XVth century venetian infantryman.

He is just eighteen and this was one of his first works, but he focuses mainly on armor reproduction, which he hopes will became his real work in the future.

.
He works in the stables of an eighteen century rural mansion, not very far from some of the mroe famous palladian estaes of the vicentine countryside, very close to Bassano del Grappa and Asolo of shelleyan - byronian etc etc memory.

The colors are impressively period, even if he swears he has used acrylic colors.

The motto reads : PAR TERRA ET PAR MAR., by land and by sea, in venetian, the motto of the venetian troops, pretty apt to a maritime and land power.

Actually Giovanni should have written TERA in venetian but his italian language upbringing had the upper hand ..

Zuan (Giovanni) has just joined myArmoury under his real name but i was the one who had taken the pic.
