Just finished it and I am so happy with it that I am posting it everywhere.
Based on those seen in the Beauchamp Paegent. Yes, those are real pearls, surprisingly cheap too.
Cheers

Applause! It turned out great..
I am curious, how is it affixed to the helm?
Do you plan to use it in an actual joust event? If so, would it be just for introduction, or would you actually wear it during tilting?

Thanks guys.
The torse is sewn to the leather cap and this is all held in place by 1 screw that comes through the helm skull and into the orb.
I will be using this in the joust.

Wow, this is really cool, truly outstanding work, it looks terrific. One question though, what is the gold mount made of connecting the plumes to the base of the crest?

Hi Tim, it is pine. Picked a few of them up from the hardware store, I carved the 'acorn' lines into it and then painted gold. I have some 24carat gold leaf that I will cover it in.

Hi Rod.......That is so awesome !! Sir Justin the Huge will be jealous and so will Sir Luke. You'll have to stay away from strong winds of course, and, please watch out for birds !
Looking forward to seeing you live and moving.....should look great ! I'm hoping to work on some later period joust harness with Dean .......there's just so much gear thats never been reproduced before !
Will you be up for next years Abbey tournament ?
Cheers & best wishes !

Hi Sean, I believe they could be wood or metal, or perhaps even leather. I have seen a metal version on a sallet ascribed to Phillip the Fair.
Mine is wood and painted at the moment. I intend to gild it with 24carat gold leaf after this weekends display. The radiating lines are that of a star.
Hi Nathan, the material is a cotton velveteen that is left over from a doublet I had made. It is worked all over with a flower and leaf pattern in a silk thread.
Cheers
