Latest from Jake Powning
I don't recall anyone posting this one before... check this out... He had mentioned this sword and the other one to me a while back. I wasn't terribly interested because at the time he was planning on making the fittings out of silver. I do like my swords to be functional even if they will not be used... instead of course he made the fittings of Bronze, which means it's totally functional... and amazing...

That's beyond spectacular... definitely a special piece of work. Look at the presentation as well: that's quite a custom case. I saw this blade a little while ago but I cannot afford much right now. Someone is very lucky :).
Yeah I've been ogling this one for the last several weeks (I believe it's been up for a month or more)....absolutely breathtaking. The attention to detail and worksmanship in Powning's pieces always amazes me every time I see his work, and makes me feel bad about my Albions, which takes quite a lot
Well, that gives me a new definition for ENVY. That is beyond impressive ! And if I understand correctly Russ you own this sword ........ jaw dropping on keyboard and the drooling is going to corrode my computer.
Oh wow Russ, congratulations! You are a very lucky man
It was my understanding from Russ's post that he does not own the sword, because he originally thought the fittings would be silver, and he is now regretting a missed opportunity ;).

Missed the opportunity .......... Oh, LOUD cries of sadness and torment of sympathy if Russ missed out on this one as it does seem on a better second reading that this is the case. :( :( :(

You are absolutely correct...

I saw this thing and thought to myself.... "DOHP!" or maybe that should be "DOPE!" Ahh well... here's to missed opportunities.. :)

Very impressive.

Honestly I really couldn't say. A few years back Jake was badly underpricing his work, but I suspect that he has remedied that since then. On the site it notes that this took him six months to complete... I suspect that the price is commeasurate wtih the labor involved. :)
Somebody could die just from seeing the beauty of that sword!
This sword is beyong gorgeous. It's absolutely perfect. It seems inspired by one of the swords you can see in Swords of the Viking Age, pages 102-103, and also the one on pages 96-97 (the "turtles-pommel" one).

The scabbard is soo nice also...
Absolutely amazing workmanship. Jake is quite a craftsman.
