Let me try in short. What is 19 years of experience? Once, in a real street fight situation I crushed with my teeth the thumb of an opponent, who stuck it in my mouth, trying to rip off my cheek in a movie style. I won the fight because of his mistake, and it was one second of experience. I believe there are people here, who know the difference between facing a training partner or fellow reenactor with a blunt sword and fighting a doped scum carrying a Stanley knife.

Sorry, I forgot the answer itself. My point is, that old masters polished their skills in real combat situations and duels and compelled their experiences in books, written for real combatants, or people who's lives depended on their fighting abilities. That is why those old books are much more valuable than years of experience of modern reenactors.
