Nylon Wasters
I saw this video and I am very interested in those nylon wasters. I read the ARMA forum thread about them and it seems that they are not currently available for order yet by their supplier. I was wondering if anyone knew of any other place where I could buy one?

Also, any opinions on them would be great!

Hi James -

I have never gotten around to posting on this forum but now's as good a time as any to, to let you know that those nylon wasters will be actually available pretty soon from the manufacturer, "With Intent Wasters", run by Eric Winkler in Wisconsin. As of right now he only produced a few of them for some of us in ARMA who got in touch with him as soon as he announced them. I got two recently and after sparring and drilling with them I think they're great. He's made some improvements in the design and will be making longsword, side-sword, dagger, and messer version IIRC.

Eric is putting together a website from which people can see and order them, hopefully soon. If you attend the ARMA International Event you may be able to pick one up but until then you'll probably just have to wait for the website.

Supposedly another ARMA member is planning to make his own as well, but I don't know anything else in that regard except to say that your best bet is to check the ARMA forums now and again. Good luck. Maybe I'll post some pictures of mine here when I get the time.
Nova Scrimia, in Italy, uses a nylon waster. It's their own design, so I don't know how similar/dissimilar it is to the ARMA ones, as I've never gotten the chance to use one. You might consider contacting them to see if they are available:

The plastic wasters are now in production. Here is the web site:http://www.freewebs.com/wiwasters/
Thanks guys!

I just ordered one a few days ago, I can't wait to get it!
I recently was able to play around with a pair of these. They're not bad, and certainly can do anything that a wooden waster can do. Plus they're very durable. They aren't anything out of this world, but they're acceptable. I'm not crazy about the feel of them, as they are very light. If one trains with something more realistic in addition to these (e.g. trains with steel, but bouts with nylon), that's not really an issue, but if these are your only training tools then I can see bad habits cropping up. Still, if someone showed up to one of my classes and owned one, I wouldn't have any issues with them using it against wooden wasters.
Slight Warning
Since I just heard from him, it seems to be working out. I still hold up a bit of a slight warning on the length of time it takes. It's rather unclear until you wish to order.
