Hello again.

Last sunday I had a chance to see my good friend Mikko Remes, and well -surprise surprise- we had to play with some sharp things Razz We both had newly made items to introduce to each other. Mikko had made the seax http://www.myArmoury.com/talk/viewtopic.php?t=9661 and I had made the spatha and holbein dagger http://www.myArmoury.com/talk/viewtopic.php?t=9748 . We thought that if we found some empty milk cartons, we might as well do some cutting, and test the swords. With the favourable help of Mikkos mother-in-law (and the understanding/sympathising glance of Mikkos wife), we got milk cartons and plastic bottles, even more than we had hoped for.

The seax cut like a dream, and the spatha -well, not that dreamy. The seaxes blade was well sharped, and it had no trouble cutting through water filled cartons and plastic bottles. The spatha did quite fine with the cartons, but it kind of smashed the plastic bottles since the blade is a bit thick. With seax we were able to cut water filled cartons into about 2cm slices, without moving them. With spatha, the thing was usually over with one cut, cause the cartons teared a bit.

When the cutting was over, we made a fire by the near lake and discussed about the results among everything else...I guess it was about 1:30am when we went sleeping. For some weird reason, I had a quite horrible headache the next day, and didn't feel well at all...Guess I should reduce cutting Wink

Enjoy the pictures....some concentrated faces over there.

-T
