Hi Mac,

What are your plans for a liner ? ( I know Vince spaced
this one so you could add one )

It's gotta be something nice, now *g* ;-) Mac

Yup, Vince spaced it using 4-5 ounce cow hide. He also
was generous enough to provide me with a 3/4 pattern
for a leather insert. Soooooo, based on Vince's pattern,
his observations of originals, and my own viewing of
real liners at the Cleveland and Chicago museums of
art, I'll likely try and find some silk velvet. No easy feat
considering most velvet these days is cotton. I'll cut
out the 4-5 ounce leather, fit it to the contours of the
basket (possibly using Dale Seago's alchohol method),
and then cut some red velvet to fit the leather. Then,
I'll get some blue seam/binding tape and sew it around
the edges, just like they did 300 years ago. Should
turn out okay. Vince was also cool enough to make me
a black leather swordsmans knot. So the whole thing
assembled should look pretty cool.

Alex
Cool .... look forward to seeing your handy-work, Sir !

* Make sure you post a pic of the sword knot , too ...... as your nosey Sgt. Major needs to inspect everything !

I'll try and post a pic later on tonight, after I complete
the list of chores that Lady McCracken has left for me...

Speaking of your rank, Sgt-Major, I just wanted to check
if you were still interested in assembling a MacDonald
Highlanders Sgt-Major's kit. We're getting close to working
out the bugs on uniform items, and soon we should be
able to give you a list or who/what/where to put everything
together. I know making it to events might be hard, but it
would be cool knowing you had a kit ready to go in case
those uppity colonials started getting unruly. :)

Take care!

Capt. Alex
Hi Captain Alex

Aye, sir .....
Please send me any info headquarters puts together, as I would luv to be prepared !
Local yuppie uprisings in these parts of the Kings territory are common, and need to be put down before they infect the minds of his loyal subjects !

Sgt. Major MacDonald
Greetings Sgt-Major,

James and I were both hoping you'd say that. :) Very
well, we'll assemble a list soon of where to buy and
who to go to for all your Highland uniform needs.
Indeed, the yuppie incursions are deep and traumatic
in this part of the King's dominion as well. With
fresh troops arriving daily we can hopefully put an
end to high house prices and long lines at the
coffee shops.

Capt. Alex
Awesome. Truly a masterpiece.
That's totally beyond speech!!! AWESOME!
Captain Alex ....

Any chance you could post your new babys stats ?

So far we got ....

Weight - 3 lbs.
POB - 2" out from hilt (approx)

Or are ye planning a formal review ?

Thanks, Mac
Alex,
That is without a doubt one of the finest basket-hilts I have ever seen! Simply unbelievable!!! Congratulations!

Best regards,
Ron
