See picture for explanation.

Small foto taken from the GrimmArmory.com - which now have other galleries.

Hi Izya..... Mabye I'm wrong but it seems to me that the whole group of 'Lames" sits on TOP of the 'Gorget'. There should be no restriction with this arrangement........I'm sure that the original Armourers faced the same problems.
I hope it works out well for you and I'm sure we would all love to see photos of the completed project.
All the best.......Merv

No. Ropes are 100% at the bottom, and i will explain why.
See explanation picture.

Thats why even such models as Maximilian Gorget appeared.(see picture gorget1.jpg)
+ it takes breastplate weigth on all shoulder area(unlike small gorgets - gorget_small.jpg)

who were in graz museum, can answer this question =)

Yes Izya....This is true..............Its just that in the photo you posted the lames LOOK like they sit on top while the "ropes" (straps) would be in the usual position underneath.

are you sure it does attach in the center? would make since not too. the 2 on the sides are sufficient to hold it in place.

the rivets shown from the top show me that the ones near the neck line attach to the "ropes" as you call them on the lames on the neck. there is also a pin rivet that keeps the front and back closed.

if it does attach, the top lame does not move very much.

is teh upside down picture the same as this one? http://www.myArmoury.com/talk/download.php?id=8788 because in this picture it looks like the top lame articulates off of the rivets. i know in some lame articulations teh articulating rivet is used as dual purpose: to articulate and to hold the leathers or roping for other moveing areas.

becareful with artist drawings. sometimes they can add ifs and butts where there is nothing there.

Yes, the majority of other gorgets of this type that I've seen do not appear to have a rivet at the top of the lame...

Izya,

I found this thread while doing a preliminary search, as I was going to ask about the same problem myself. Did you find a solution? I'd be very interested in the answer.

Cheers
