I have a study partner who's searching for a reasonably priced Pappenheimer sword. I think he would prefer the ealier wide bladed type as opposed to the standard rapier blade. I know very little about them so any help on their existance and popularity would really be appreciated.
Thanks

Just to give another opinion, and this one purely my own personal one, I was highly unimpressed with the two AC Pappenheimers that I've seen. Though the price point is relatively low for this piece, I still found too many things iffy about it, including the finish of the components, overall weight, and odd proportions. Additionally, its standard blade is a pretty narrow "rapier-like" blade, as opposed to a wider blade as Gary's buddy is seeking.
Mileage may vary...

Well, Darkwood Armory does have some Pappenheimer options, and they also offer the new flexible sidesword blade (which is, I suppose, a wide enough blade to put on a pappenheimer to make it look like a military blade).

I once had an AC Pappenheimer which is one of the ones Nathan has seen.
When I got it I was fairly new to collecting and happy with it, but as I was exposed to more weapons my satisfaction decreased. I eventually sold it at a very significant loss. Purchased at the price I sold it for I'd say an OK deal. Purchased at the price I paid...well it better be one of the first swords you get...they almost always end up out of the collection eventually anyway.
