We don't usually think of the hanger as having a "basket-hilt" , but these examples from George Neumann's book,
"Swords & Blades of the American Revolution", show us that some indeed did !

You don't really see these very often, I don't have any other examples to post other than the scans from Neumann which you have posted. I did however come across one at a arms show in Louisville last year. It was pretty neat.

Just as interesting are a few hangers with smallsword hilts, both of the "conventional" & loop-hilt form. One particular example is on pg. 100 of Harold L. Peterson's "The American Sword."

I forgot about this one. Not all hangers had curved blades, such as this basket-hilted example from Rod Akeroyd & Son.

They look like Scottish broadswords with curved blades.
