Hello all,
I am thinking of buying me a new repro U.S. Civil War cavalry sabre, either an 1860 Lt. Cav Sabre or the 1840 Hvy Cav Sabre. I was wondering, who makes, or offers, the best one out there as far as good steel, temper, etc.. I want one that if needs be you could actually fight with it. I have no use for wall hangers.

Ames offers one and says it is tempered, etc, and combat ready. Also Legendary Arms. Many other sutlers and companies offer them. Even MRL has U.S. Cavarly sabres. Are their's any good?

Anyway, I was wondering if any of you more knowledgable people out there might know who makes or shall I say offers the best U.S. Civil War cavalry Sabre, tempered, combat ready sabre for the money?

Just in case I decide to go that route, does anyone know anything about the quality and "combat readiness" of Militaryarms' Mameluke sabre or MRL's Scimitary?
Thanks,
