I have recently noticed in some trade literature the suggestion that each clan had it's own targe design.
From my own researches, I suspect that this was not the case, however, I stand to be corrected.
Anyone able to enlighten me ?

1. clan designs were victorian invention like a lot of the tartans.
2. targe designs like heraldry designs were meant to distinguish friend from foe in battle.
personally i would go with combination of the two.
