I have to admit, I have a dream of owning an Albion NG Dane. Having read this thread, it seems that one can chose a number of methods of carry. I like the idea of a scabbard, either at the waist, or used as a slip cover when carrying the sword over the shoulder like a polearm. I often wonder about scabbards that sling over the back on something like a baldric. Is that means of carry something that came about through Hollywood, or were large swords sometimes carried that way historically?

One other thing. I was rather proud of myself for finding this thread on how to carry a Dane by using the search feature, but I can't seem to locate Martin's thread on his "fightingboy" or "poor-man's" kit that he was (or is) working on. Could anybody direct me to the right place?

My apologies and thanks in advance!

This is from that site of Russians reenacting Swiss Merv Cannon posted about. I don't know what manuscript is this, but it's perhaps 15.th century. Some of the images show soldiers with very large swords, or at least swords with very long grips. They seem longer than the usual one and a half swords:.

Thats right Blaz...........I remember that site.............and it includes the most famous illustration of all........."The right to keep and Arm Bears ! " ............. http://www.bern.ru./v2/?t=view_photo&ig=3...;f=227.jpg
