Thanks much- In retrospect, "paulo" may be a variation of "palo", which just means "pole", so that's probably what the author intended-

So, if you wanted to be as specific as possible without being incorrect, would you just call it a "polearm"? The author I'm working with wants to call it a "halberd", but I know that's just silly.


From the picture you posted and the name, could he actually mean pudao? I know it's a chinese polearm, but seems to fit the description. Just a thought.
