Aren't those weights a little on the heavy side? It's hard for me to understand how could a sword that's 60cm long weigh 1,6kg. Could someone with a bit more knowledge about gladius weights edit those weights to be more realistic. Or am I totally wrong here?

Those weights are definitely on the heavy side.
Can´t think why they provide that figure. Could it be based on rather overbuilt bunt reenacting "swords" such as the one shown in the photoi illustrating the article?
A rather more correct weigth for a pompeii gladius would be around 650-700 grams.
