Has anyone out there had the heart to try and cut with one of Patrick Barta's creations?

I've cut single tatami mats with my schiavona and it did wonderfully.

I used my Sutton Hoo on tree branches of 1" to 2" thick -- absolutely no problem!

I just passed the one year mark on the waiting list for a custom Schiavona from Mr. Barta.

I sent a hello e-mail this afternoon in fact.

It is amazing to see his work, few things today are worth a 2yr wait; a sword by Barta is one of those things.

Oo! Really? I can't wait to see it!! I'd absolutely love to have another Barta schiavona.

He's a couple years late on my current order. I'm waiting patiently but it's hard not to get excited by such things.

Nathan,

Actually the pictures of your Schiavona were what lead me to Mr. Barta.

I did ask for a couple of distinctions though. I asked for a grey rayskin instead of leather for the hilt covering and asked that he enscribe TEPLVM instead of F E R R A R A on the blade.

While the omage to Andrea Ferrara is period correct I wanted to aknowledge Temple Arms instead.

I'm excited to one day become the steward of a future family hierloom.

:-)
