Torsten,

About the heating / cooling issue of wearing armour, particularly 15th c. harness. If you get a proper arming doublet and wear a linen shirt under it, you will go a long way towards staying cool. Yes, you will sweat but with the doublet you should get some air movement down through the neck that will hit that sweat soaked linen shirt and THAT will keep you cool. A primitive swamp cooler if you will.

I have worn my harness in some pretty hot weather and managed to stay reasonably comfortable. Shade and lots of liquids to drink when not performing / fighting helps also.

Pics of my harness can be found here:

Bob, your gonna love this one!!! Instant request. Sorry, I know it's a little off topic, but it probably qualifies as a historic first! Knight in racecar...

Thank you W.R., I am certainly going to check those out.
Torsten,

OK, OK!! So your steed has more horsepower than mine. Mine can turn inside of yours. BIG DEAL!!!

Mr. Randall Moffet, I have the actual dry weight of the harness excluding any padding, clothing or mail parts! It came in at a whopping 58.5 lbs. The scale used was a 60lber accurate to 0.1 grams in metric units. I weighed each piece seperately. The following is a running tally;

bascinet type helm - 6 1/3 lbs
L. arm defense - 4 lbs
R. arm defense - 3 2/3 lbs
L. pauldron - 3 1/2 lbs
R. pauldron - 3 lbs
leg defenses - 6 3/4 lbs each
sabatons - 1 1/2 lbs each
cuirass w/ back - 18 lbs
gauntlets - 3 1/3 lbs
no tassets used
Torsten,

Looks good. Thanks for the information. That seems like a fairly well wieghted suit. I think with helmet mine comes out to about 51ish and it is not as complete. I am still trying to get pictures. I will being going home during the holidays hopefully so I may then. Thanks again,

RPM
