I have a question regarding armour and a friend said i would be smart to ask here. I was wondering how to attach an avantail to the leatherbrim on a basinet? Do i need extra, still unrivited, rings for that maybe? Im new to that stuff so any detailed help will be very good.

well 2 ways here

1) lay the aventail and punch a hole where every ring should go. rivet a ring in place attaching it to both the leather and teh aventail.

2) if you dont have any loose rings, you can sew the top of the mail to the leather. if you do this, i suggest making the leather fold around the mail so it sandwiches it inbetween. this make sit stronger as your sewing thru 2 pieces of leather and the mail.

do you have vereles(sp) to attach the leather to the helmet?

Yes, if you mean those little metal things along the edge going through the leather.
So need loose things like i thought.. thanks for the info.
