From the 13thC Church of All Saints at Little Kimble in Buckinghamshire.

Interesting pommel variation?

Maybe I'm not seeing it properly Rod, but it looks like a fairly plain Brazil Nut pommel to me.

True, but it has markings and a slight shaping like a vestigial trilobate.

Is this a rare pommel type, or is there some particular significance to it? I'm guessing that perhaps the 13th century is rather late for it to be found in art?

I just looks like a fancy Brazil Nut pommel. The 13th century might be on the late side, but it's possible I suppose. We have holdover lobated Viking-style pommels still showing up in areas of Britain at that time, too.
