Today is my 40th birthday. Since I'm now at the crest and looking at the downhill side shall I just fall on my sword now and quit while I'm ahead? The Gregger took me to lunch today. Fortunately I got out of there without the staff singing happy birthday to me.

Happy birthday Patrick and many happy returns. I'm not too far behind you (just turned 33 last Wednesday).

Absolutely, and I'll be happy to dispose of your swords and armor collection for you

Patrick, look at it this way: strength athletes peak in their early 40s (barring serious prior injuries or drug use). I'll be 36 in February, and getting stronger all the time.
So you're not permitted any excuses....for another 10 years at least....
Happy birthday!

40 You young-uns are always complaining. The only way I'll let you fall on your sword is if you will me your Jarl or Knight.
Seriously, a very happy birthday Patrick; may you have, at least, 40 more healthy, happy years. A homebrew stout will be consumed in your honor sir!

Yep....take an old man to lunch and darn if someone didn't steal his walker! Had to borrow a little ol' lady's cane just to get him to the car. Sheesh, what is this world coming to?!? BAH, you're still an young whipper-snapper. Happy BD man!
(Still think I should of made them "sing" to you, HAH!)

Fall on your sword? Not at all, Patrick. Just sit right back, relax and enjoy your 40th birthday. You're in your prime! Happy birthday!

Congratulations, Patrick!
I agree with Joachim -- between 40 and 50, I met and married my dream girl, started my dream business, and met some of the best people in my life (many of them on this forum).
I think you have a lot of good years to look forward to.
Happy Birthday!

Patrick, you're still a pup. An pretty wise and experienced pup, but a youth never the less!
I'm still two years shy of half-a-century, and I have no intentions of quiting any time soon. I figure that when I can no longer sit a horse (even if in the mean time I have to climb up into the saddle by standing on my walker, or be hoisted a-la those silly movies from the '30's) then it will be time to call it quits. But I figure that a horse's legs will do what mine can't in 30 years or so, leaving me to keep on shootin'! After all, don't we need more stove-up old cowboys to keep these Utes... er, "youths" rather, in line?
Keep on keeping on, and never mind the grey, it just means "Been there, Done that, wearing the T-shirt on my head".
Happy 40th!
Cheers,
Gordon

Joining to 40 club Patrick?
Yea, I did that in August. It's not so bad I suppose. The older I get the more I realize we have to live life to it's fullest and stop putting things off. Live life now I say

40's really aren't that bad. Check again in 10 years. That one is bad.

Happy birthday Patrick! Please don't fall on your sword; I'm not done extracting information from your brain!
Oh, and forty isn't that bad. Keep going until you can't grip a sword because of arthritis...
