Drat! My second Honorable Mention.

It's like being the brides maid and never the bride. Well, maybe next time. Congratulations to all the winners.
Ahhh, two honorable mentions here, so I can understand where you guys are coming from. Still, it is a pretty cool feeling to know that I named an Albion (or two), even though I was a bit slow on the draw. That Chevalier concept drawing is really nice, hopefully I will be able to pick one up when they become available. Can't wait to see further developments on these babies!

Also, thanks go out to the people at Albion for the generous contest! Very fun...Thanks guys.

Yes. I am also bothered by the choice of "The Oakeshott" as a name. I question the choice, as it seems to confuse things in the market given that Arms & Armor has had a sword named "The Oakeshott" for several years now in their standard line-up.

MRL used to have a sword named the Oakeshott also. It's been discontinued for a while.

A&A's version was named for a sword in Oakeshott's collection. The MRL version may also have been named for something that passed through his collection.
Congratulations to the winners !

I appreciate every names, but I have a little problem with the "Tyrolean": when I hear that name, I see people with strange hats and leather shorts yodling, a huge glass of beer in their hand, but not a two-hands sword ;) .

Cheers,

David
So for those of you who entered the contest, what names for what swords did you submit? My 'Honorable Mention' was The Wallace for sword #3 (kinda looks like the sword that Mel Gibson used in a certain movie ;) ). My pick for sword #4 was The Erbach because the hilt of that sword reminds me of the one in Oakeshott's Records (Type XVIIIa.10).

Obviously, you have never been to New Glarus ;)
I was trying the Dürer for one of the swords. In tribute to his fechtbuch and his artwork who has fashinaded people for centurys.

A fine moniker indeed. Hopefully Albion will provide you with another opportunity to submit this. :)
I submitted The Plantagenet for sword #1 with my inspiration coming from the English Anarchy (1135 - 1154) between the usurper Stephen of Blois on one side and Empress Matilda and Henry Plantagenet (the future Henry II) on the other. I just imagined that just such a sword might have been wielded by one side or the other during that long nineteen year civil war.

But this is another example of a name used by another maker (Arms & Armor, with their "Dürer Bastard Sword"), so probably not a good choice for Albion.
An honorable mention! I may be getting the hang of this. Now, if I could only think a little faster....

I agree. Something I wouldn't want to see is conflict between two companies over something like this, not to mention that these 'Name That Sword' contests are rather fun and I'd hate for Albion to have to do away with them. :\

Opps. I agree with you. I'm not as up on the Arms & Armor swords as I suppose I should be, and I didn't realize that the name was already taken... good for A&A!
:p #3 The Wachtmeister
Don't ask ! :D

 That's at least an Honorable Mention in my book!
I offered up Doppelsoldner for #4.[/i]
Egads! I too asked for #4 to be the Maximilian! I'm glad my name idea won out, I just wish I had gotten it in faster. The name seems to have been chosen by popular vote, though. *grin*

Good for Daniel, though I wonder why I didn't get an honourable mention.. *Scratches head*
Has anyone considered that it might be an idea to keep your suggestions secret, in case there's a future contest where they might be appropriate? ;)
