Let's just hope for both sides sakes you don't run into the hordes of Anti-Paladin and their Unholy Revengers...

You got it, bud... as we say in the South... Hey, y'all! Watch this! :D
Well, I would want my A&A GBS, but I would probably use that as a back up to something with a little more impact:

After the experience I had last weekend test cutting with my Jody Samson Carolingian for the first time, I would have to say that is the sword I would take to battle with me should an orc army, dragon, trolls, etc. attack. I was completely floored by the carolingian. I'd always considered Jody's swords to be more art than weapon. Boy was I wrong. The sword danced in my hand. It was perfectly balanced for it's type (single hand cutter) and melted through the targets. In short, I loved it. That sword has completely changed my ideas about what's a good weight and how much blade presence is an asset.

Sissy.

Battle should be a manly contact sport.

Hey, at least I didn't show up in armor (the tracked kind):

For the sake of argument: As the instructor in Quantico, a veteran of Hue City remarked when asked about what the best personal weapon for a Marine LT to carry said: "Grenades. LOTS of Grenades."

Plus a good M1911. Add to that a fine warhorse in reserve, and a good solid hand-and-a-half sword. (The War Horse and the Grenades don't mix well, so one before the other, needless to say...)

But if we're being serious, I'll go with what Jonathan Blair said...

Cheers!

My choice is, of course, clear. Who would remember, who would sing of the button pushers of Harmageddon?

Ever since I read The Sword of Welleran, I've had a clear picture of the Last Battle in my mind; whether it be the last of me or the world is all the same. And the weapon I wield is a great curved sword like that one of Mehmet the Conqueror in the Topkapi collection.

[ Linked Image ]

'What art thou, thou beautiful thing? Lights shimmer in thee, thou art restless. It is the sword of Welleran, the curved sword of Welleran!' And Rold kissed the hilt of it, and it was salt upon his lips with the battle-sweat of Welleran. And Rold said: 'What should a man do with the sword of Welleran?'

...

And now the armies had come very near. Suddenly Rold leaped up, crying: 'Welleran! And the sword of Welleran!' And the savage, lusting sword that had thirsted for a hundred years went up with the hand of Rold and swept through a tribesman's ribs. And with the warm blood all about it there came a joy into the curved soul of that mighty sword, like to the joy of a swimmer coming up dripping out of warm seas after living for long in a dry land. When they saw the red cloak and that terrible sword a cry ran through the tribal armies, 'Welleran lives!' And there arose the sounds of the exulting of victorious men, and the panting of those that fled, and the sword singing softly to itself as it whirled dripping through the air. And the last that I saw of the battle as it poured into the depth and darkness of the ravine was the sword of Welleran sweeping up and falling, gleaming blue in the moonlight whenever it arose and afterwards gleaming red, and so disappearing into the darkness.

...

'O sword, sword! How horrible thou art! Thou art a terrible thing to have come among men. How many eyes shall look upon gardens no more because of thee? How many fields must go empty that might have been fair with cottages, white cottages with children all about them? How many valleys must go desolate that might have nursed warm hamlets, because thou hast slain long since the men that might have built them? I hear the wind crying against thee, thou sword! It comes from the empty valleys. It comes over the bare fields. There are children's voices in it. They were never born. Death brings an end to crying for those that had life once, but these must cry for ever. O sword! sword! why did the gods send thee among men?' And the tears of Rold fell down upon the proud sword but could not wash it clean.

I love Dunsany. Perhaps I'm just weird but that story always chokes me up...

Well, my VBSS kit includes some pretty sweet CQB gear, but if I'm really up against ten thousand Fell Demons I'm going to run out of ammunition, Immortal Hero or not. So, for a day of brutal slaying to save All That Is Good, I'd have to go with something like an Albion Svante or perhaps a Knecht. Or something else equally sturdy and wicked of hand-and-a-half proportions. Even a katana would do, but I'd need a short sword or two as backup should my longarms eventually shatter from hacking through thick demon hide over and over again.

I hope Mithras scheduled a lunch break at some point because we're going to be there all day. :D

I did some math.

Assuming an average of five seconds to dispatch a demon and engage a new one, given ten thousand vile fiends per hero, it'll take us some 14 hours of non-stop hectic slaying to clear the field.

I agree we might get a tad peckish.
Ummm...DUHHHH! :p

Yeah - should have thought of that. I wonder if the demons would look like bunny rabbits?
