You won't believe this!
As most of you know I've been Mr. Maille Man here lately. I've been concentrating on the front and back slits in the hauberk for the last couple of weeks, adding gores, filling in the slits so they don't gap wide open, etc. At least that's what I thought I was doing.

Well, I had finished the front slit some time ago and have been working on the back one. I've had the hauberk lying bunched up on a work table during the process. To make a long story short: I think I've got the rear slit finished so I hold the hauberk up to check it out. Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.............................................................................

What I've done is add a second slit to the side of the hauberk instead of the rear.
This would be fine if the other one wasn't front and center! How I managed to not notice that for more than two weeks I don't know. I'm glad the iguana and I were the only ones in the garage because I was suddenly stricken with a case of potty mouth.

It wasn't a total loss since I was able to cut the sections out that I had added, close up the side, and it will be simple to add them to the back slit (yes it's the back, I checked). I won't be getting to bed early like I had planned though.

Will this ever be done?
Oooh I hate backtracking. That moment of horror when your heart jumps up into your mouth and your ears start burning. I hope you have a detached garage ;) Think positive - you'll probably never make that mistake again.

I bought a 16" by 12" square of 6in1 stainless butted maile from a guy who had lost interest. that was three months ago and I haven't linked a single ring. I doubt I ever will unless I'm laid up in the hospital. How anyone does this for a living is beyond me.

Mine is all riveted mail, just to add pain to the injury!
another turn of the screw. my condolences
Patrick;

Sorry, got to ask, " IGUANA " ( Well actually maybe cute and on the + side at least it's not a parrot that might repeat what you said. :p )

Sometime you get that " Oh no " feeling and a minute later you discover that you didn't make a mistake but only thought you did for an instant: When I put in a liner in one of my helms I thought for a second there that I had riveted it in inside out !

The last time I had that feeling was a while back when I got home and realized that I had lost a really nice and expensive umbrella: What is worse is not being sure how it happened and exactly when. I think I put it down when I was buying a coffee and stupidly left it on the counter.

Hummmmm: Just a quirky thought here, maybe you could make a tiny maille hauberk for your iguana with a tiny little Norman nasal helm painted just like yours. Riveted mailled 1/32" in diameter links ! That would be a guarantied way to loose your mind !

( Sorry, I obviously just lost mine: Hope this gets a chuckle ...... I have a weird sense of humour. :p  )
Ow. I know the feeling.

Last Monday, or rather very early Tuesday if you get my drift, I typed up a bunch of long overdue Media Production course projects. About a dozen pages worth of text, and pretty good if I say so myself. Then I, aching for the sweet embrace of my bed, closed the text editor.

...without saving.

Alas, my poor flatmates and their needed but fragile slumber...
Ahhh
That hurts.

Canīt help smiling at the thought. I guess I am evil at heart.

;) :D

Oh, don't get me started on umbrellas. I swear, the next one I buy I'm gonna fix to my coat with a lanyard and never detach it. Of course, that prolly just means I end up forgetting my coat somewhere...
ow...
Thats why I'm buying lose panels of mail from GDFB, and make someone else attach them for me in exchange for a assembling a COP....
Yeah. . . here's mine: I had the shirt on a manequin and was closing the last side seam in the shirt. For some reason, I decided to do this one from the hem up (instead of the armpit down, which worked flawlessly on the other side). I needed to wear the hauberk the following day, it was 20:00. When I got to the last ring in the seam, for some reason things just didn't quite line up right. . . I discovered that all the links were connected correctly - just one linkrow off  . I had to take apart the entire seam (and in the process of discovery a good chunk of the armpit) and do it over. . . wasn't in bed until well after midnight and was awake at 05:00 the following morning. . .

I feel your pain.
Ouch! Well.....actually I would believe it. After watching you work on it so diligently I'm not surprised, because we all know Murphy's law was just waiting to come bite your backside, lol. Glad it's at least fixable without too much trouble. Of course, I would have blamed it on the iguana since I know he is after you for pulling on his tail.............

Yep. He kept getting out of his tank so now he just lives in the garage. He's managed to give my wife a scare on a couple of occasions. I think that's fitting since she brought the stupid thing home.

I knew I heard someone laughing. :p
O man, that really does bite. Everyone who has ever made anything knows what that feels like though (or at least I do). At least you'll be able to fix it though without *too* much trouble.
i feel your pain.

sorry man.
Oh, my.... Condolences, Patrick. But, to look on the brighter side, at least you have something to keep you out of trouble for a while longer.
I think Greg's right, the iguana did it. As I was finishing up the refit tonight I noticed he was watching me very intently from his perch on the top of the garage door. He must have changed it when I wasn't around. Yeah, that's it. ;)
Ouch. Sorry to hear that.
