Although I have patience for some things, I am always amazed by people who make these patterns . I have seen it done many times and those of my friends who do it say that it is quite easy, but I certainly wouldn't have the patience, but I do admire those who do.
Hope that this is perhaps what you are looking for patrick... or at least a start.

Funny you ask, I just have put a little resourche into the subject.

Unfortunatly they are German so I hope you can read that...

http://www.flinkhand.de/ This is a verry nice Lady, i allready got a lot of info from here, so send here an e-mail, see writes and reads English verry well. See can tell you about what patterns would be most likely for your timeperiod and culture, see makes more of this stuff then see uses hereself, so see will sell also...
Then try www. e-bay.de and search for "Brettchenborte" that is the German word for it.
Maybe it works also for the Ebay.com??

Show-offs!  Tablet weaving is hardcore brain crunching stuff. Especially if you want to make a complex pattern, and getting the intended result. I did it with 6 tablets, which is pretty much the easiest, and already struggled with that. I wouldn't even dare attempting to make one of those 150 tablet bands that have been found. My greatest respect for those that can do it!

Yeah... I think it's like anything. The basics are simple, but do do the really complex stuff takes a lot of hard work and skill. My fiance does it, has trouble with the hard stuff, and she has two advanced degrees! Talk about brain crunching

If you don't mind shipping from England - then Steve the Weave could be your man:

He is very reasonably priced, fast and tries to use dies that would have been available at the time. He did the silk tablet weaving for my SH sword.
