Well, it's been an excruciating wait, but my Albion NextGen Crecy is here! I ordered it with a dark green grip wrap, and it looks gorgeous. Haven't done much handling yet, but one thing I'm surprised by is how easily it handles in only one hand. Usually I find two hands more comfy than one with longswords, but with this baby both are sweet. I'm REALLY looking forward to getting to know her better Wink In a rather wry turn of events, this sword actually drew blood before it was even unpacked. I cut my finger slightly last night battling a particularly slick loaf of sourdough bread, and today when the UPS guy called downstairs, I in my haste to throw on my shoes tore it open again! A wound well worth it Razz
Unfortunately it is raining right now, for the first time all summer, so the only pics I could manage are pathetic and sad, but here are a few:

Crud. I wanted the full length one to go first. Anywhoo, a BIG thanks to Mike and Howy and all the folks at Albion! Perhaps I can get one or two good pics sometime in the near future.

I didn't know Albion did green grips! How long has this been the case? Does anyone else have a green grip to show?

LOOKS WONDERFUL! When I get some cash togeather and finally buy that NG Squire, I'm going to have get green... Did it cost extra, or is it a regular option I have completely overlooked? Anything I'll need to remember to say when that far flung day arrives? (IE, is this just 'dark green' or something more wordy?)

Thanks George. Albion does custom color grips for an extra $25. I requested "dark green," and thats exactly what I got Big Grin I saw a Ritter with the same color, and there's a Regent in the rotating photo album on the Albion home page with a green that looks slightly less dark, but thats probly because of the lighting and such. One caution: let the handle dry out before excessive handling- the dye is coating my hands even as I type...I may never wash my hands again Wink

oooo big fan of the green here. It turned out very nice. I like the spartan look and elegant lines that the Crecy has.

Hi Eric,

I really like the point section on that! It is "pointy" but still appears substantial. When I look at some of the historical pieces and reproductions from the 15th and 16th C. the points just look too delicate, almost needle-like- as if a moderate blow would break of the tip, but this point looks nice and strong.

The blade just looks wicked, and I like the green grip as well.

Thanks all! I posted a few more pics here:

But again, they are very low quality.

Thanks for the pictures! I'm hoping that my Crecy will be shipping sometime soon. Untill then, it is always nice to live vicariously through others.

The green makes for a very unique grip. I don't regret going with oxblood on mine, but I may have to consider that green for a future sword.

Congratulations for your new sword Eric! I was still hesitating about the Crecy, but thanks to your pictures I know it's a sword well worth its (low) price. Your pictures are even better than those from Albion's site!

Congratulations on the new sword. Looks good. Maybe one day, I'll have enough saved up for one of my own.

Gracious that's pretty... I keep coming back to look at that dark green grip. I am definitely going with dark green. I wonder what their limits are... Electric orange? Hot Pink? Those Albion guys are amazing craftsmen.

Wow. Eek! You have one real beauty on your hands, Eric. I love it even more now! Mine should also be arriving in the near future. I really love the green grip. I like how it seems to be slightly darker at the risers. The pics are actually quite good. They show the sword from many different angles, more than shown on Albion's site. Thanks for the pics and congratulations!

Congrats on the new Crecy, Eric. It's great when the UPS guy shows up with one of those long, white boxes. I got a Regent with a dark green grip, and it looks great. When I ordered it I visited for a few minutes with Mike S. on the phone and discussed the whole color issue. He told me that they would basically do whatever color anyone wanted for $25. In fact, he said "if you want pink, we could do that"......but I passed.

Two guys in my study group ordered the Crecy. I've been anxious to see one up close and personal so hopefully soon.

Congrats on your fine weapon.

This is a very fine sword. I have been cutting/exercising with mine for the last 3 weeks and it has really grown on me.

It is much nimbler than I expected, and a very good cutter as well.

Congrats,

Alexi

Congrats, Eric. That green wrap is gorgeous. I'm still hoping that I can work some magic to get one of these while it's still on sale.
