Hullo all, I'm in search of resources, and I'm hoping that some of you might be able to point me in the right direction.
Can anyone here vouch for the accuracy or lack thereof in Osprey's "Carolingian Cavalryman AD 768-987?" I've heard that their books are a notoriously mixed bag, but I've little experience myself. Can anyone suggest further reading on German arms and armor during this time period? I'm especially interested in Bavaria and Swabia during the 9th Century, but I realize that might be a bit too specific.
The Stuttgart Psalter has obviously proved the best source, and I'm quitefamiliar with the Utrecht Psalter as well.
Simon Coupland's "Carolingian Arms and Armor in the Ninth Century" has been the only online information of note which I've been able to locate.
Thanks in advance!
