My new six-panel spangen by Russel Thomas(www.living-history.no). I am dead pleased with this one! It is not quite like an ordinary spangen, but not much different either! Like Russ commented, it has got a nice "varangian" feel to it...and it will go well with my splintered bracers(which I ordered yesterday, when the helmet was finished...). Here is a picture, enjoy .

Very nice!
Conicals and spangens are my favorite types of helmets. This looks like a very nicely done example. I particularly like the work on the vertical attaching bands, very cleanly done.
Is the nasal vertically adjustable?

Hi Patrick
No, the nasal is fixed. I too like the attachment bands, and the teardrop shape on the panels.

Congratulations on being the lucky owner of a very nice helm.

That is a beautiful helm. Congratulations! How long did you have to wait in queue for the piece to be completed for you?

About 5 days if I remember correctly... I mentioned to Russ that I wanted a 6 panel spangen. Did not place an order though. Russ did make one though, just for fun...and he made it somewhat smaller than usual, probably thinking of making it for me, subconciously.... So I bought it. This week I'll be getting some splintered vambraces as well, ordered those when I got the helm.

Thankyou for the nice comments gentlemen. I am pleased that you like it............you too evidently Johan !
I just found myself playing about one afternoon and this helmet was the result ! It was fun to do as most of my spangen helmets are only four panel ones, so this was a slight departure from the norm for me. I had thought of blackening the infill panels , but in the end decided against this as I thought that it might look a little too OTT ?
Regards as ever,
Russ
