My flesh palm is no match against the Brescia Spadona's spiky pommel and I am looking for a place to get gloves so that my left palm can be saved. :P Any suggestion?

I've used anything from leather garden gloves to fencing gloves. Heck, I've even used lacrosse gloves for free sparring when a strap broke on my steel gauntlets and welding gloves for reenactment live steel demonstrations. Unless you are looking for a particular look  , use something that is comfortable. My favorite gloves when I don't have to give a period appearance are some lightly padded rescue gloves designed for rope handling. Something similar would be the padded mechanics gloves that have become popular here (at least in the States) over the past couple of years.
Find something a) comfortable, b) durable, c) with a reliable grip, d) that allows most of your dexterity. You should be golden... and your left palm / wrist much happier.

Hi Lance!
For basic sword work I use plain black deerskin gloves. They have no padding and usually have no cuff but really allow for an amazing grip. I get mine from regular department stores like Wall Mart. My last pair cost only $15

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll try to go grab a pair locally today and test it out. If the gloves don't work well, I'll order from overseas (though much more expensive)...

I have a pair of unlined black deerskin gloves, that I use for just about everything. I like the dexterity that they allow, and I can even wear a liner inside of them (like those cheap knit gloves also available at Wal-Mart-esque places) without stretching them too much. The only caveat that I would mention on those gloves is that they are a little softer than some, and can get torn up by things like loose wire-wrapped grips (my American Civil War Arty Officers' saber did one pair no favours). They should still last for a while, and are inexpensive, just don't plan on the one pair lasting you a lifetime.
