The lighter and more fragile objects might have perished more easily. There are a few extant boiled leather coffers around though…

That link from 2013 no longer works, but there is one on Web Gallery of Art https://www.wga.hu/art/m/master/xunk_it/xunk_it3a/2scene01.jpg (search web gallery of art for Castello Challant, Issogne (Valle d'Aosta)) It fits what I was going to say, which was that late medieval and early modern people loved to store things ready-to-use on pegs. That is great in a late medieval and early modern house, more difficult in a modern living history event in a field!
