German bayonet/knife WWII
Hello, I wish to learn more about a bayonet/knife that is family heirloom. Would appreciate any information that could be provided.

There are no markings, other than ‘Carl Busse Mainz’.

Best,
Philip

It resembles a fireman's parade bayonet.

I'm not familiar with the various bayonets of the period, so for all I know, there could be others that follow this basic style. But all the ones that I can find online are described as firefighters'.
Thank you. This provides an excellent starting point for further reading.
