Just finished my project, based on the Durdogne river find
The blade is actually made from a German WW2 canon panzer plate, lots and lots of grinding but quite happy with the result
The scabbard is not correct but I think I will make a later type soon

Very nice looking job. I also love the material source, do you think it will make good blade material? Not too hard?

Thank you! The steel is extremly strong and not brittle at all even after decades exposed to the elements

We're used to seeing all these perfectly manufactured modern swords but there's something very impressive about the raw nature of this sword. For some reason to me it looks like it is EXTREMELY sharp. It also looks like you've captured all the correct proportions of each component of such a sword.
I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, but that which it protects. (Faramir, The Two Towers)

Thank you! I found it very satisfying to make a sword all by hand and happy to hear you like the handmade look, it looks like an old sword up close It’s not very sharp at the moment but I plan on making it sharp soon and test cut with it, it now is about 1450 grams
I also have a Falchion project made from the same steel plate
