I’m new to this and trying to get a good start with correct information
Would this cross guard have been in use during the battle of Hastings?
I have seen where some say it would have been used at a later date
And would not have been used at the battle of Hastings I have not seen
any one disagree about the pommel but just asking about it also just Incase

Thanks for the help in advance

I believe there is an example shown in Records of the Medieval Sword from this period or even a bit earlier.

Just for an aside- I have owned a Norman and it is either my favorite or in running among my albions.

Another option would be their Reeve if you aren't sure about the guard on the Norman. It's a nice sword (I own one) but I really like the long and sleek look and feel of the Norman.

If you are concerned about authenticity, why not get the 'Senlac'? It's basically the same sword with the more typical type 1 cross.
