Were inlaying designs or makers marks done on both sides of a sword blade (I'm referring to 15th to 16th century blades)?
What were some well known makers marks or inlaying done on blades with gold like in the examples below?
Are there any more examples of such inlaying that you could point me to?
What would be some historically accurate inlaying that could be done on a blade that would have been produced say during the late 15th to the early 16th century?
I was thinking of adding either a marigold design, a set of daggers like in the albion Ljubljana, or a bird motif or some type of combination of these, as well as the swordsmiths mark that I am planning to commission from. What do you guys think would work on a type XVIIIc or type XVIa blade?
Thank you
