Reground CS 1796 light cavalry sabre
So, just finished a last project for 2017. This CS British 1796 sabre was reground to be more in line with the originals. Unlike most modern reproductions that are way too thin, this piece actually came with a decent base thickness of 7mm so it could be given a fitting concave distal taper down to just over 1mm at the tip. Without going for an original or a very high end custom, this is now as close as you'll get to "the real thing".

After final grinding, the blade was given a fine satin polish and sharpened to a shaving sharp edge. Should be a ferocious cutter...
