Hmmmm.... this one feels a lot like the Type XV you posted. Similar texture. Some aspects of construction that seems familiar.

I see similarities between this sword and the XI.a posted. In terms of this sword, the pommel has a similare level of wear to the rest of the sword, and yet somehow, the facets on it have been largely effaced. As before, the proportions give me the impressions of a modern sword. So I don't think this is real, either.

What is the purpose of all these posts?
For some reason and don't take this personally, but it seems that this is almost being used as market research to see which fakes can pass the test and start being produced.

The guard slot for the tang is very clean and crisp as is the tang itself. Seems fake.
I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, but that which it protects. (Faramir, The Two Towers)

Can't agree there. I also collect antique firearms and can say that threads like this help potential collectors to recognize fakes when they see them. I myself avoided buying a forged Brown Bess based on the tells of a particular forger I learned from a thread like this.

Not sure why folks are bent out of shape over this thread....

I think part of the rub was that it took 11 days and three threads to get to the point.
