Anyone have any experience with this? Looks to me nearly identical to the MRL blade...pommel is different. Any input?

It looks identical to the old Windlass/CASI/MRL "Culloden" Basket-hilt, except that the basket is blued, not nickel-plated. So are the chape and mouth of the scabbard. The pommel is a little different, though -- it looks like the pommel on the Cold Steel basket hilt.
"Discriminating General" sells a 1796 Cavalry saber which is identical (perhaps from the same source) to the Cold Steel version (the only difference is that the "General's" sword is not sharpened). I wonder if the case is similar for this basket-hilt (with the exception of the basket itself, in which case they use the old Windlass pattern)....
The only thing I can warn you about is the size of the basket -- it's bound to be humongous. If it is in other ways similar to the Cold Steel, then it may not be too bad for the price...

Dave,
I thought the basket looked MRL, but the grip, pommel, and blue-ing looked like ColdSteel.
I wonder what it actually is...

Since Cold Steel and The Discriminating General get the P1796 from the same Indian source it stands to reason that this is the same sword being sold by Cold Steel.
