so, im having issues finding a smallsword thats fairly inexpensive i.e less than $400 australian.
the isue is that the one smallsword ive got http://medievalshoppe.com.au/eighteenth-century-smallsword/ is quite rubbish in the blade department, its way too floppy, the fact its got a lenticul;ar and not a triangular cross section is itself not an issue the fact its way too floppy to demonstrate the stiff pointy nature of the sword is what bugs me
the problem with buying low end smallswords is that im australian, so the best goto option like kult of athena is off limits since the shipping costs from USA to australia are BRUTAL.
and id be tempted to get a HEMA sword but the issue to my mind is that they often lack the characteristic stiffness that makes them so good at thrusting, since this is meant to be a display item for the public next to a swepthilt rapier, scottish baket hit and a hanger with the intention to show 'this is a rapier, the rapier evolved into THIS' "the smallsword was good for XYZ attributes, you get the idea"

Have you checked with these folks? www.wulflund.com It might be worth a look. Then again, their shipping rates to Australia may be even higher. .....McM

What about Del Tin? I think he has a few different smallswords all around the $400 mark.

I’ve always thought the smallsword (and rapier) range is a little under represented in the marketplace.
