Morning!
I am in the middle of acquiring the skills I feel I need to construct an accurate composite Saxon-style Gothic crossbow. My specific interest is the late 15th century as exemplified by the 'Ulrich' bow. I do not speak German so I cannot access the best texts in this field. I am ready to start processing the horn for the prod but do not know the dimensions of a typical/average target/hunting prod to construct my drawings. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance,
Andrew

Definitely check out "The Book of the Crossbow". It's later period, but is incredibly valuable as a how-to source, with good diagrams of parts, etc. I think I have it in a .PDF somewhere. Feel free to email me at demessenmaker@gmail.com if you'd like me to track it down and send it over.
