This is an intriguing variation of the (in my opinion) under-represented, "tea cozy" pommel and short cross combination. The blade has nice, crisp lines, and I like the color combination for the scabbard and belt.

Well done, sir!

Today after a little long break I made something different. The Viking Axe made with traditional methods of forgeing Type L (Petersen), XI - XIIc. Tomorrow I will try to polish it.

The video is a great idea, I think more craftsmen should do vids to quickly show how their pieces look in hand.

Huh... I've always kind of wondered about that!

How do you determine how "deep" to cut with the wide part of that tool? Unlike the narrow part, it clearly doesn't go all the way through...

The new sword - dated on XIIIc. The new very good quality of polishing. It is hardened to 54HRC, high quality steel 51CrV4. It is very sharp :-). The pommel is bronze. made like in oryginal sword. You will see nice handle and scabbard for the sword that are on the way...

I don't mean to "hijack" your thread, but I found a recent photo on your Facebook page containing two unfinished blades that *appear* to be something like XVIIIa. Both blades have very crisp, well-defined spines that look "raised" or "hollow-ground"-- is that correct?

Regardless, I really like tapered, awl-pointed, XVIII-family blades. I'm sorry if you weren't ready to discuss those on here yet, but I am not on Facebook, and couldn't wait to ask!
