Go for the Lowlander. I have one, and I love it. In the past, it got mixed reviews because of the threaded pommel and skinny tang. That doesn't appear to be an issue any more. The tang on mine is quite robust. The pommel IS threaded, but doesn't appear to be welded-on thread. I guess Hanwei listened to the complaints and beefed it up. I still wouldn't call it combat worthy, but it's a whooole lotta sword for the $$$. ....McM

I know John Lundemo made some great two handed swords too but I'm not sure if he's willing to make them anymore. You may try to contact Longship Armoury to ask about it.

Hello guys!
Thank you for the excellent Leeds!
I'll start looking into them now and when I decide I'll post it.
Been hearing some issues with Lutel? Are they still reliable?
I will NEVER use Baltimore knife co again. Not only are their blades crude but their lack of integrity and down right attempted thievery was disgraceful.
In good conscience I can not recommend any one purchase a custom through them directly! If you must have one of their cleavers - get it from a secondary source in stock [/list]

Lutel had issues, and the Lutel site was taken over. Lutel-handicraft is the site of the guys that are better, but their custom work has had quite a knock recently (also on this site somewhere).

Lutel Handicraft has been svamped by orders lately and are only taking orders for 1-handed and 1 1/2-handed swords at the moment according to their Facebook page. Also their delivery time has become much longer than it used to be, my order basicly took twice the amount of time but is finaly finished according to the last e-mail update.

Hello, Lance...
I have some feedback regarding swords bu Lutel Handicraft... Their swords are usually nut/threaded pommels, but that isn't an issue for me. Their swords are durable and fully functional by just about everybody's standards and the finished product is as precise a Swiss watch.
The only reason that I would be skittish is how to deal with a problem should it arise.... and they do arise!
For me, the sword that I received was lovely, but I had ordered a complex-hilt on a Type XVI blade. What I received was a complex hilt on a Type XIII blade. Just didn't work for me. The only fix would be to ship it back to the Czech Republic, have them swap it out, send it back to me, etc....
Fortunately, I found a buyer who wanted a snazzy cutting sword, and I sold it to him for exactly what I paid for it.
There's always going to be potential FUBAR situations with ANY manufacturer, but the problems are easier to solve if you buy from dealers that are in the same country as you are.

If you are not interested in performance, i.e. just seeking a very large sword for display, Deepeeka makes a replica of the William Wallace sword, the dimensions of which are very close to the original. Of course, it is very unlikely that sword actually belonged to or was used by Wallace, but since it occupies the Wallace Monument in Stirling it has its place in history.

There's also the Windlass/MRL "Hero's War Sword". Not quite six feet, but still one hell of a big sword. I've thought about getting one myself. Go around swinging it in one hand, my Lowlander in the other......NOT. .........McM
