Leather arm and knee cops
Hello all I'm hoping to tap into some knowledge. I am wondering what, if any ,evidence there is for leather joint protection. I am looking for a kit in the mid to late 13th centuriy when mail was slowly being supplanted with bits of plate. Thank you for any and all assistance.
I've been studying up lately on knees and elbows. I've never seen any historic examples being all-leather. There sure are a ton of them available in modern leather armor though. I suppose they could have started out as all-leather. :wtf: .....McM
This is just after the period you have in mind but might still be useful (at the very least you might want to copy the approach to study your period).

Artwork doesn't help. We can't tell whether it is cloth, leather, leather-covered metal, cloth covered metal, or metal..
"Brown" does not equal "leather". Brown doesn't even equal brown because pigments change colour over time.
