Hello,
I recently bought a Hanwei Pierce arming sword for sword and buckler practice. I find the balance a little too tip heavy since the POB rests about 5.5" from the cross guard. I'm wondering if I could partially correct this with replacing the skinny pommel with one that's heavier, preferably in steel. Any suggestions where I might find one at a reasonable cost???

cheers,
Fil Walker

The 'Printed Armoury' makes, or did make, fittings for H/T blades. They made a set of Scottish-style fittings, the pommel having a high 'peen block'. I bet that would increase the weight/balance sufficiently. Don't ask me where to get them now...I don't know. Or if they are still even being produced. .........McM

Fil the fittings that Mark are available at the LG Martial Arts store. The complete set is currently sold out but there is one individual pommel available for purchase. However, these pommels will most likely not change the center of balance as they are roughly the same weight as the factory pommel. If you want to bring the balance closer, you might try the pommel off of the "Warden" set that they're selling; it's a couple ounces heavier. You would have to contact the store owner for just the pommel though. Hope that helps!
