The sword is coming along really nicely. I worked with Maciej on a somewhat similar sword about 1.5 years ago and I think it turned out really really nice. I was going for an XI with a slightly atypical downward curved cross guard and brazil nut pommel...the pommel style is more of the bulbous almost tea-cosy variety than what is currently in play with your piece.

Looking great.

I'm always blown away to see how beautiful Maciej's swords are, even during the making process. I ordered a sword and a falchion, I'm so excited to see them growing!

The other sister really appeals to me.

the second norman sword is commissioned. but it is definitely one of my favourite type of sword and I will make them more soon - I need one too :)
brazil nut pommels are very similar on both pieces, they were inspired by the same few original swords.

This project has taken another unexpected twist. Vulcan decided that the blade would turn out to be 1.5" shorter than expected. I'm used to things like this happening with custom projects so I said I'd be OK along with some compensatory adjustment to the grip. However, I guess Maciej is a perfectionist. He already made an extra pommel & guard, and now he's going to make an extra, longer blade. So I guess that in the end my sword will have another sister; this time a near-identical twin.

After some interruptions, I have an update on this project. Maciej has now completed two new versions of this sword.

The second will be done in a couple of days and is said to be very similar but a bit longer. Maciej has kindly offered to let me choose the one I like best, and then I guess the other one will be up for grabs!

This one has a blade length of about 34 and 1/2 inches. The next one is even longer? That will be a long singlehander - definitely a horseman's sword.needing as much reach as possible.

This last one has a blade 9mm longer (i.e., 35") and a grip 3mm shorter (3.7"). That's a cozy fit for my hand.

PS - I have confirmed on the longer sword, so I think the other one might be available.
