Hello all, it's been a while since i've posted any new work here on myArmoury. I thought I'd share some pictures of things i've been working on. Some are available for sale on my website (www.jessebelsky.com/stageswords) and some have already headed off to new homes. Lots of rapiers, some smallswords, and down at the bottom some broadswords. Some impressive work there Jesse. I was particularly taken by the rapier in the fourth picture from the top, and I'm curious about the decorative techniques you used.

Hi Jesse, some wonderful pieces there. I really like your rapier & dagger sets on the third picture - simple, but very pleasing. Did you use leather for handles, or is it a coloured wood?
The rest is of course top notch, too.

Thanks for the kind words gentlemen. Radovan, those red grips are indeed leather covered. I found two small pieces of it on sale, and now sadly its all gone. But it was lovely stuff. Great color/texture.

Tim, that sword is etched using computer cut vinyl stencils as a resist. Then the low spots are polished a bit and sealed with varnish. The high spots are blued with cold gun blue. That's the very short version of what is a very time consuming process :)
Last time I did one of these I used paint as a resist and scraped off all the designs by hand. I'm not sure this took any less time, but the design is much cleaner.
