Has anyone read Christian Cameron's 'The Ill Made Knight'? Or any of his other books for that matter?
If you have, what are your opinions on the historical authenticity of his works?

Historical authenticity aside, they are great books and I highly recommend them if you are a fan of historical fiction and you are interested in the greeks or the hundred years war.

Personally I loved the 'Ill made knight" and the second one. I must say that the first few pages I did not take to and there is a particular aspect involving some characters that could have been as cheesy as hell and I was fearing the worst. However none of this came true and I must say the books were a great read and I simply loved them. On a day to day level of historical accuracy I would say they are very good and well researched, as regards the larger political or military scale I can't say as I am not educated enough to really comment, however I suspect that he has got that detail bang on too.

If you like medieval historical fiction, you cannot go wrong.

I read his "Marathon" and I loved it. No historical inaccuracies big enough to ruin the book for me. Wink

I love the Ill Made Knight and Longsword. The Ill Made Knight was a little grim and depressing until it gets to Italy.
The next volume, the Green Count, is available for pre-order on Amazon.

His Tom Swan serials are also fun.

Christian Cameron has a great talent for bringing the reader into the mindset of the cultures and time periods he sets his stories in. Definitely my favourite writer at present.

I actually started on his fantasy series under a pseudonym, the first of which is my second favourite fantasy book (after the name of the wind). Then I read Alexander God of War, and then marathon and that series. The Ill made knight and longsword I actually read in reverse order, but they were great anyways. I just wanted to check to see if there were any glaring historical inaccuracies and if so where to temper my immersion so as not to be mislead
